PC Tools Antivirus
This is one of the lesser known antivirus products out there. However, you should never rule out software just because the name isn’t well-known. In fact, a lot of software out there like this can usually do a perfect job while offering prices that are half that of the ones that pop into your head when you think of virus protection. So does PC Tools Antivirus hold up and take care of business? That’s exactly what we wanted to find out so we put it to the test and here is our review.
First off, the interface is really nice. We found that it is extremely user friendly and can be used by basic and advanced users alike. The great interface would be worth nothing if the program didn’t function properly so we quickly moved on to the next task. We planted numerous viruses on a few different test PCs and installed PC Tools Antivirus on each of them as well. We ran the scan and it found the threats very quickly. In fact, the scan process itself was much faster than that a lot of the previous programs we have tested. Normally we can start a scan, go make a sandwich, and then come back to watch it scan while we eat. Now the scan wasn’t lightning fast or anything, but it is worth noting that it is faster than most. It also didn’t slow down our system performance as significantly as others do. We were impressed by the careful coding they obviously put into the software. PC Tools Antivirus uses sliding signatures to detect various threats out there before they become completely viral. It also scans the Master Boot Record as well and that is very valuable. Viruses can quickly become a big problem if they get in the boot sector, and having protection in there is a major plus in our book. Other than that you can expect PC Tools Antivirus to have features that are pretty much standard in today’s antivirus software such as quarantine, remove, repair, detection, etc. There is nothing really groundbreaking here, but the software functions just as it should and will provide the protection you need.
We were happy with PC Tools Antivirus because the software is simple, clean, and efficient. It carries a very humble price tag of 29.95 as well if you want to upgrade from the free version. If you are going to use PC Tools Antivirus then we definitely recommend upgrading to the paid version at least after giving it a test run for a little bit. You won’t regret it and you can rest easy knowing your files are safe.

I found PC Tools Antivirus to be pretty good considering that it was one of the cheaper ones. My only complaint is that the customer service isnt so hot.
